BUILDING CONSTRUCTION 2 (ARC 2513)
This subject aim to introduce structures as architecture by developing an understanding of the structural system in construction technology in a unique way in relation to historical and innovative buildings. I've discussed and analyzed the skeletal, solid and surface construction system in terms of load and forces in a general term. There are 2 projects in this module.
Contents:
1. Project 1: Skeletal Construction (Temporary Bus Shelter)
2. Project 2: Understanding Forces in Building Construction
Project 1: Skeletal Construction (Temporary Bus Shelter)
This project aims to create an understanding of skeletal structure and its relavant structural components. Besides that, we are required to understand how a skeletal structure reacts under loading and to demonstrate a convincing understanding of how skeletal construction works.
We were required to produce a scale model of a temporary bus where the completed bus shelter will be tested to withstand lateral forces.

Project 2: Understanding Forces in Building Construction
A building normally comprises of several different types of constructional systems, either due to its function or building code requirements. Tensile and grid shell construction methods are becoming widely used structures for building support. As designers, we were required to understand the building components and its assembly. Besides that, we were required to demonstrate good drawing skills in building details and how it reacts under loading and force.
In a group of 4, we had chosen " The Future of Us" which is located at 30 Marina Blvd, Singapore as our case study. We analyzed the structure, axial foce, load distribution, purlins orientation of the structure.
