Architecture Design Studio 1 (ARC60105)
Architectural Design Studio 1 is structured as an introduction to architectural design. Themed " Body and Space", this studio aims and emphasizes to present and explore design through the expression of the 'self' and the body through the spaces created through design.

Project 1 : Self-Expression Through Object
The Ice breaking design project introduces basic understanding of the design processes and approaches in generating ideas, formulating conceptual narratives, developing design and translating it into form design.
The project is designed for us to unravel our creative side and inner self through various mode of communication or art form. We generate ideas from self-identity through personal interests, preferences, attitude and personality.
Project 2 : Self-Expression through Architectural Space - Life Capsule
Project 2 involves designing a ’Life Capsule': a confined space which will house multi-functional furniture(s) which the user can use for several positions and for activities within a 24-hour period. In a group of 7, we've chosen one of our female group members to become our user of the project. She was a backpacker and the life capsule's design was based on her body dimension and occupation. We named our life capsule as 'Shift'.
Project 3A : Storytelling and Narrative - My building, My Architecture
Project 3A allows us to do most of the things we enjoy doing such as bonding with friends, travelling, story telling and more importantly taking and uploading videos and pictures, focusing mainly on our chosen architecture. In a more serious note, this exercise serves as a test on how well we can narrate and 'story tell' and whether we have learnt and understand essential aspects of design. These aspects include familiarization of architectural terminologies and our abilities to use architectural language to share our understanding of the design such as form & space on the architecture we have chosen.
In a most creative and educational manner, each group came out with a 5-10 minute video that includes the following components which are a brief background about the building, concepts, approaches and ideas behind the design and a tour of the space through picture and personal experiences.
In a group of 7, my group chose the National Planitarium Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur.
Project 3 : Dreamspace for the User - A Hide Out
Project 3 incorporates both the creativity and its functionality; identity of the user, comfortability of the user and creativity in articulating the space. We designed a space for an user by attaching it to the wall/ surfaces of an imagined 'city' on an empty abandoned lot in between two buildings. The space is to fit the specific needs of the user, space that best fits the personality, occupation and character of the person that the user we are designing for.
I have chosen Jackie Chan as my user from a list of 32 pre-selected people with prominebt personalities in the field of entertainment, sports, politics, arts, science and others. The final design was presented through a model of scale 1:50 and 3 A-2 persentation boards.
