Precedent Study & Analysis - The Basilica of San Lorenzo, Florence
Introduction
This project focuses on investigating historical works to enrich architectural design and ideas. Through the study of existing buildings, we are able to communicate and expand their own architectural vocabulary and develop design concepts through online forum discussion, analysis drawings, verbal and board presentations.
Task A : Online Group Forum
The study of precedent required students to gather architectural information, have in-depth understanding of the building systems at work, as well as recognize the series of important elements that realize design aspects of the building. One set of questions is given and all discussion is posted in TIMES Wiki Space. The building that I've been assigned to research about is "The Basilica of San Lorenzo".

Task B : Precedent Study & Analysis Sketches Presentation
The precedent study and analysis sketches, and analysis presentation board consist of illustrative and abstractive diagrams, drawings and text. The drawings include actual and conceptual design ideas of floor plans, building sections, analysis diagrams and sketches expressing clarity and in-depth investigation of the precedent studies.
Task C : Analysis Presentation Board
For this project, we are required to create an in-depth analysis presentation board for The Basilica of San Lorenzo. Each student have to select and conduct analysis of different elements and synthesize the design concept Parti. I have chosen the question about Spatial Organization analysis of Basilica of San Lorenzo.
